Understanding the larger goals of increasing distribution to more retailers, Merritt Group Consulting developed a strategic plan to focus first on trade media outlets, likely to be read by grocery buyers. The secondary effort included content strategy and creation through influencers. The last portion of MGC’s strategy included media coverage through consumer outlets form high-tier national magazines such as Food and Wine, to more niche blogs and outlets that were in-line with the brand’s attributes (organic, vegan, gluten free, etc…)

When all said and done, there were over 15 trade outlet placements that included in-depth writes up from Confectionery News, The Supermarket Guru providing a review and claiming their chocolate was the best “you’ll ever have” and inclusion in Food and Wine. The positive response from trade PR, influencers and consumer media coverage gave the brand an arsenal of tools to share with grocery buyers and helped with expanding distribution to the West Coast and a national account with Amazon.
