Developing cross-linked fullerene electron-selective semiconducting thin films

Low-cost solution processed solar cells like perovskite solar cells frequently employ fullerene layers as electron selective or n-type semiconducting thin films. These layers are mechanically fragile and are susceptible to etching during device fabrication. This project involved identifying the problem, designing a new molecule, MPMIC60, synthesizing it and demonstrating its utility for creating mechanically robust, yet efficient solution processed solar cells.
