San Francisco's Beloved Bucket Man Goes to Europe

This article was part of a series of stories I wrote on Larry “Bucket Man” Hunt for SF Weekly. Known for his talented drumming on buckets in downtown San Francisco, Hunt became a San Francisco feature. Eventually, he got noticed by a traveling Dutch businessman who wanted Hunt to represent his container manufacturing company by drumming on his containers at a packaging fair in Germany. I spent four months as the go-between for Hunt and the businessman to help Larry go to Germany, even working with the Mayor of San Francisco to get Hunt a passport. Larry got to go, it went well, and I wrote about it.
