StarGazr is a webapp to find the best places to go stargazing!
The app presents you with a map of light pollution across the world. You click on a spot and it uses light pollution, weather, and other factors to determine how good that spot is for stargazing. The travel time to that spot is also given based on your location.
It was developed with the help of others at Science Hack Day 2016, where it won the “Best Design” catagory (see credits). The app was developed using Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Django, AWS, and utilizes the Google Maps API and the Dark Sky weather API.
The app is still under development, but it’s been a fun and rewarding project. Let me know what you think!
